A Sangha for Rationalism, Modernism, Buddhism

All Members , Moderated
This is a community for discussing buddhist history and philosophy with the modern world in mind, as well as being a "modernist" and non-superstitious practitioner of the Buddhadharma. All traditions and non-Buddhists are welcome.

We are also interested in Buddhist encounters with the West historically prior to the modern prior, such as the Greco-Buddhism of Greek Kingdom's Indo-Bactria and Gandhara or Nagasena's encounter Malinda.

Believe nothing because a wise man said it.
Believe nothing because it is generally held.
Believe nothing because it is written.
Believe nothing because it is said to be divine
Believe nothing because someone else believes it.
But believe only what you yourself judge to be true.

- The Buddha (paraphrased from the Kalama Sutta)
